A better way of boating for the coming summer

They say the two happiest days in a boat owners life are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.

With summer upon us once again and beautiful waterways abounding, Leisure Boating Clubs offer an alternative to purchasing a boat that you may only use sporadically while still paying for full-time use.

"Leisure Boating Clubs offer a fixed price annual membership which covers all operating costs of the boat such as berthing, maintenance, registration and insurance," said Eric Robinson, General Manager of Leisure Boating Australia Pty Ltd. "The only additional cost is the fuel you use. It's a great way to get into boating and see if it's for you without the financial commitment of boat ownership."

Established in 1999, Leisure Boating Clubs are a growing group of luxury boating clubs. There are currently ten clubs located in NSW (Rose Bay, Cronulla, Pittwater, Roseville and Port Stephens); Queensland (Brisbane, Hope Island, Gold Coast and Hervey Bay) and Victoria (Pier 35 Melbourne) with plans to expand throughout Australia and abroad. They have a modern fleet of over 40 boats, mostly luxury sport cruisers ranging from 28 to 47 foot.

"Another feature of Leisure Boating Club membership is that you are not locked into using one particular boat from one location," Mr Robinson said. "Membership entitles you to use of all boats within the Club. You can also use similar luxury boats at any Leisure Boating Club. So if you're a member of a Sydney Club, you can also use the boats and club facilities in Queensland and Melbourne."

Membership starts at just $7500.00 per year. $16,950 will get you up to 28 days use of a Sunrunner 3300 Sport Cruiser or similar 33-foot luxury cruiser. This is less than what it normally costs to berth and maintain such a boat, not to mention the cost of depreciation and finance.

"Upon completion of your boat familiarisation and handling course, you simply make your bookings online or by contacting the Club. When you arrive, your boat will be fully fueled and ready to go. When you return from a great day out, just walk off and we'll take care of the rest. No cleaning or maintenance, just 100% enjoyment!"
