An international conference on doctors' health will be held in Sydney, from Wednesday 24th to Saturday 27th October, 2007. With the theme 'Wellbeing', the conference will canvass issues relating to the health of doctors, dentists and allied health professionals.
The conference is being convened by the Doctors' Health Advisory Service (New South Wales) and the Australian Medical Association (New South Wales). The major sponsor is the Australian Dental Association (NSW Branch) and the conference is supported by the New South Wales Medical Board.
Doctors are people, too and like everyone else, experience happiness, success, disappointment and illness. The Doctors' Health Advisory Service recognises that the health and well-being of doctors and other healthcare professionals is precious.
This conference is relevant for doctors in all specialty areas of the medical profession and for dentists and veterinary surgeons. It will interest those involved in teaching and professional development. Medical, dental and veterinary students and doctors-in-training are especially welcome.
The conference will bring together, from Australia and around the world, doctors, dentists, veterinarians and others interested in doctors' health. It will focus on recognising and assisting doctors who are unwell, and also on promoting doctors' health, happiness and well-being.
Ideas and strategies to assist doctors to look after their own health will be shared.
