Advanced Procera Forte training event

Nobel Biocare has highlighted its position as the original and reigning kings of CAD/CAM in dentistry in recent months with a range of new offerings for users of its highly successful Procera system. With the widest selection of materials, two scanner choices and the ability to mill copings, bridges to fixture level, veneers and abutments, the company has now turned its focus to ensuring its training and education program is first rate.

As part of this, an Advanced Procera Forte Training weekend was staged in March at the Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove in Queensland with representation from every Procera Forte Laboratory in Australia and New Zealand attending the exclusive event.

"Procera was the first CAD/CAM system in dentistry and remains number one simply because it's the most widely available and cost-effective option for dental laboratories to offer CAD/CAM componentry to their clients," said Per Claesson, Procera Business Manager at Nobel Biocare Australia. "There have been a significant number of new innovations for the system of late so all our local users were keen to attend and learn how to incorporate these new offerings into their labs. It was a very successful event and we have had very positive feedback from all the participants."

As a special bonus, attendees were also privileged to be able to attend a full day lecture from world-renowned ceramist, Jean-Marc Etienne, who visited Sanctuary Cove on the last leg of his Australasian lecture tour.

On the first day of the event, a Friday, Alan Sim began by introducing the new NobelRondo Press porcelain system for Alumina and Zirconia.

Next, Rob Hill presented a workshop covering the new scanning procedures for the Procera Implant Bridge in Zirconia and Titanium. 12 Forte scanners were sourced from all parts of the world for this specialised training session and set-up for everyone to experience and participate in the workshops.

Participants had hands-on experience with scanning and design procedures for Procera Implant Bridge Zirconia and Titanium. Procera Implant Bridge Zirconia is the world's only CAD/CAM produced implant bridge in Zirconia for screw-retained solutions and is now available in up to 14 units. It can only be produced by Procera Forte Laboratories.

Upon completion of the day, participants had all the necessary training, hands-on experience and confidence to introduce these new solutions to their laboratories. Participants also took home the necessary software upgrade as well as comprehensive support material including marketing ideas to help promote their lab. A casual poolside barbeque completed the day.

On Day 2, Jean-Marc Etienne presented New Technologies for Excellence in Esthetic Dentistry. Mr Etienne is an enthusiastic defender of high quality and is now recognised throughout the whole world of dental technology. He has been a member of the Oral Design International group since 1989 and shares with Willi Geller and his friends an unusual philosophy on customised aesthetics. He runs the CERALOR laboratory, the Oral Design Centre, in Nancy, which specialises in fixed and implanted aesthetic dentistry.

His presentation included many high-end aesthetic cases incorporating new concepts and technologies. Modern communication technologies between clinician and technician were also discussed as well as the skills to combine different materials together with NobelGuide, craftsmanship and proper treatment planning.

The detail and quality of the presentation was outstanding and was one of the best aesthetic presentations you would ever be likely to see for both technicians and clinicians.

"We are already planning our next event that will provide high quality training in a relaxed atmosphere that fosters networking and camaraderie amongst our growing customer base," Mr Claesson said. "We are striving to ensure our clinical and laboratory customers take full advantage of our full range of products to provide the best outcomes for their clients and patients."
