ADX18 attracts large crowds

ADX18 proved to be an excellent event, with strong visitor attendance over all three days to take part in the comprehensive CPD sessions and view the fantastic array of trade displays.

Crowd numbers already exceeded the first day's attendance of the previous event by around lunch time Friday and the trend continued with as many people attending the event by the end of Saturday as had attended over the entire three days of ADX16.

One of the largest and most eye-catching displays mounted by leading dental equipment company, A-dec, was book-ended by double sided displays by vendor partners, W&H and Acteon.

The combined A-dec, W&H and Acteon stand was busy throughout the exhibition, attracting strong enquiries for dental units, cabinetry, handpieces, implant and surgical units, sterilisation equipment and high tech digital imaging devices.

An added feature was complimentary sessions on correct dental posture for dental practitioners, conducted by Dr Aniko Ball of Optimum Dental Posture using the A-dec equipment on show.

Acteon meanwhile, was busy showing the features of its flagship extraoral imaging device – the X-Mind Trium, which provides panoramic, 3D CBCT and cephalometric imaging - all in the one affordable and upgradeable unit.

Also popular were the high tech SoproLIFE and SoproCARE intraoral cameras that provide clear magnified images and utilise fluorescence technology to reveal demineralised dentine and caries without the aid of X-rays; and also highlight gingival inflammation and plaque build up not easily seen with the naked eye.

A-dec marketing manager, Simon Taggart, said he was very pleased by the level of interest and genuine enquiry for dental equipment during the 3-day trade show.

"Dentists are looking for equipment which will make them more productive and are becoming more aware of the ergonomic benefits of well-designed patient chairs for both the dental team and patients and more ergonomically designed dental stools for their staff.

"They are also interested in the technological advances in digital imaging equipment which has made it much more affordable for practices to install their own panoramic and CBCT extra oral units to provide faster and better diagnosis for their patients.

"On a more practical level, practices are also placing a high priority on infection control, in particular the reprocessing of reusable medical devices using proven equipment and processes such as automated handpiece maintenance units and bench-top sterilisers," Mr Taggart said.

This year featured the newest W&H Assistina TWIN handpiece maintenance unit, which cleans and lubricates handpieces in a record time of just 10 seconds.

Also of note were the latest W&H Lisa VA steriliser featuring fast and secure B-Type cycles and instrument tracking options, and the very affordable W&H Lina steriliser that has just become available in Australia.

Mr Taggart said sales enquiries on the A-dec and partner stands were no doubt buoyed by the continuation of the Federal Government's investment allowance that provides an immediate tax decucation for equipment under $20,000 purchased and installed before June 30, 2018.
