Altro inhibits the growth of MRSA and VRE

In tests undertaken by a leading independent research laboratory in the UK, Altro safety floors have been shown to inhibit growth of both the MRSA and VRE superbugs.

"The tests prove that ALTROSAN, the anti-bacterial additive in all Altro safety flooring ranges, has an adverse affect on the growth of both these potentially fatal superbugs," said Warwick Duncan, Marketing Manager for Altro in the Asia Pacific region.

"This is very important news for the dental industry, and emphasises the value of specifying Altro products. It shows once again that Altro leads the way in slip resistant flooring, and is really addressing the concerns of the health sector. Now you can protect your staff and your patients from slips and falls, and at the same time reduce the risk of spreading infection."

Both VRE and MRSA pose serious risk of infection in the healthcare sector because of their resistance to antibiotics.

"One aspect of environmental hygiene that is often overlooked at the design and fit out stage of clinical areas is the use of materials that not only allow for easy cleaning and disinfection, but also inhibit bacterial growth. Altro is the only safety flooring manufacturer that has published independent test results that prove it does so.

"In addition to this important breakthrough, it has been proven that Altro safety flooring is easier to clean than other safety floorings available due to its unique process, Easyclean Technology. Easier to clean without compromising it's slip resistant properties or durability!"

Altro High Performance safety flooring can be used in almost every conceivable area of the health facility, including clinics, wards, shower and toilet areas, operating theatres, recovery rooms, circulation areas and laboratories.
