Leading handpiece manufacturer, W&H Dentalwerk, hosted a visit of A-dec Australia dealer representatives and a lucky Australian dentist to its Salzburg manufacturing facilities in Austria recently.
The trip was the result of A-dec Australia's 'See the Light' dealer promotion to introduce the new technology W&H Synea LED turbine to the Australian marketplace.
The winner of the dentist's trip was Dr Max Parker of Townsville, one of the first dentists in Queensland to show interest in the new W&H LED handpiece promotion.
According to W&H Asia Pacific Territory Manager, Chris Jobson, all participants were impressed with the work philosophy and quality manufacturing process evident at W&H.
"The friendliness and openness of the employees, the cleanliness of the whole company, the special organisational arrangements, the modern machines and qualified employees, the apprentice education system and the interesting details of the factory tour provided by the company's owner gave everyone a good feeling," Mr Jobson said.
He added that W&H's unique corporate social responsibility program also attracted comment from the group.
"W&H has a social philosophy of giving young people a good start in life and 10% of all employees are apprentices. This provides jobs for school leavers and a strong future for the company."
As a result of the tour and two days of product training, the dealer group gained a better understanding of the technology involved in the new W&H LED handpieces and other W&H products manufactured at the world-class plant.
Whilst in Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart, the group toured the castles for which it is famous and other local tourist attractions, including the Cathedral.
Dealer representatives from around Australia took part in the tour including Independent Dental Supplies dealer principal Colin Jordan and his wife, Sandra; Samantha Sherlock, Rodney Dawkins, Fiona Crowe and Desiree Powell from Medident, Sydney; Melissa Roberts from Dental Concepts, Adelaide; Jane Miller from MDS, Townsville; Scott Donoghue from Presidental, Newcastle and Joe Minervini from West Coast Dental, Perth.
Also joining the trip were Townsville dentist, Dr Max Parker and A-dec Australia General Manager, Craig Young, together with A-dec Australia staff members, Daniel Bisiker, James Rosborough, Daniel Bet and W&H Asia Pacific Australia & New Zealand Territory Manager, Chris Jobson.
