Over 50 professional tooth whitening centres utilising the BriteSmile system have now been established across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, according to Ron Jansen, managing director of Consolidated Dental Holdings.
"I had been looking for a whitening product for several years to introduce into Australia," said Mr Jansen. "But I was never truly convinced that there was anything on the market with lower peroxide, light activated, gentle, safe and a clinically proven procedure with sensational results. That was until BriteSmile. The most gratifying result is being present when procedures are complete and seeing the patient's delight - it really delivers."
BriteSmile now has a presence in more than 35 countries worldwide.
"There are a number of reasons dentists prefer Britesmile," Mr Jansen continued. "It is superior technology, clinically proven to be safe, effective and superior compared to other whitening options and unparalleled patient satisfaction is guaranteed."
According to the brochure, the BriteSmile procedure is a combination of light and gel that works to lighten a patient's teeth an average of more than eight shades based on the Vitapan Shade Guide and in many instances, by 12-15 shades.
Proprietary L.E.D. or gas plasma light technology is integrated with a wavelength-specific bleaching gel containing 15% hydrogen peroxide. There is no heat, UV or laser light involved.
Unlike other light-activated bleaching systems on the market that require the dentist to invest in the equipment, Britesmile instead charges a fee per treatment. The dentist is obliged to purchase a Polaroid Macro 5 camera and the first five procedures at $450 each.
A Britesmile treatment is expected to cost the patient $900-$1200.
