Carestream Dental Introduces new four-in-one extraoral imaging solution

New Products

Carestream's innovative CS 8100 3D system is now available with a cephalometric imaging option, in addition to several new 3D applications. Built on the award-winning compact design of the CS 8100 panoramic system and featuring multi-functional, four-in-one imaging capabilities, the CS 8100SC 3D system enhances a doctor's diagnoses with high-quality images and improves workflow for doctors of all specialties.

"The CS 8100 3D is Carestream Dental's most popular CBCT option in our product portfolio," said Ed Shellard, DMD, vice president, sales and marketing, Carestream Dental. "That, coupled with the fact that the CS 8100 family recently reached a significant production milestone - with more than 10,000 systems sold - confirms that the addition of scanning cephalometric imaging to the CS 8100 3D is the natural next evolution of the system."

The CS 8100SC 3D features the fastest scanning time of any scanning cephalometric unit on the market- as little as three seconds.1 The system includes exclusive Carestream Dental imaging software that recognises anatomical structures and traces them automatically. In fact, the unit can go from scanning to tracing within 90 seconds,2 thus maximising a doctor's valuable time when making a cephalometric analysis.

At just 1.8m wide, the CS 8100SC 3D is designed to fit into practices of all sizes and to suit the needs of all oral health care providers. With panoramic, cephalometric and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging options, including multiple 3D fields of view - from 4 cm x 4 cm to 8 cm x 9 cm - the CS 8100SC 3D is ideal for orthodontists, general practitioners and multi-specialty practices.

In addition to newly added cephalometric capabilities, the CS 8100SC 3D includes several updated 3D applications. It's part of the CS Solutions for Implants portfolio, which includes the optional prosthetic-driven implant planning module that combines CBCT volumes with digital impression data sets, along with a virtual crown and implant, for "crown-down" implant planning. And, as part of the CS Solutions for Orthodontics portfolio, the system can scan traditional impressions or plaster models to create digital models for easier storage and which can be manipulated and analysed in 3D using CS Model software.

Also, with its new low dose program, the CS 8100SC 3D can deliver 3D imaging at a dose equal to or lower than panoramic imaging3 while still capturing high-quality images. This is ideal for paediatric, orthodontic or follow-up examinations.

The CS 8100SC 3D also features the CS Adapt module, which allows doctors to customise the look and feel of panoramic and cephalometric image - such as image contrast and sharpness - to suit their clinical needs.

Doctors who already own a CS 8100 3D can upgrade to the CS 8100SC 3D.
