Dentsply Australia has expanded the versatility of its Cercon Eye digital scanner by offering labs access to Degudent's Compartis local and international networked milling system.
The new service allows dental labs to participate in the CAD/CAM revolution by only investing in a scanner and then outsourcing the milling.
The move follows the establishment of an Australian milling centre at the company's head office in Melbourne that features Cercon milling technology. Combined with the international milling centre in Germany, the Compartis networked milling system is capable of producing high standard crown and bridge copings and dental frameworks in a wide range of materials including zirconia, with a quick turnaround time.
"The introduction of Compartis to Australia offers dental laboratories significantly more choices," said Adam Novalija, Laboratory Business Development Manager at Dentsply Australia. "It gives labs the option of scanning in-house and milling elsewhere as well as a greater choice of materials through the international milling centre. It's all about offering more versatility and more options to participate in CAD/CAM technology for dental labs of all sizes."
Dental laboratories that access the Compartis System will have the choice of sending their work via the Cercon Eye digital scanner to either the Australian Compartis milling centre, a Cercon laboratory or the Degudent Compartis facility in Germany where additional materials such as titanium and non-precious metals will soon be available as well as zirconia.
"We've always been aware that a complete in-house milling system would not be in every laboratories' reach and that many laboratories already outsource to Cercon laboratories," Mr Novalija said. "With the new scanner, the laboratory can completely design their copings and frameworks on their own computer and send the file to their Cercon lab or Compartis milling facility to mill. There is no longer any need to pack models or wax-ups and no courier fee to send the job. This alone could save between one and two days in turn around time."
Access to this world leading milling system is now available to all Australian laboratories, via the attractively priced Cercon Eye digital imaging scanner from Degudent, which features state of the art operator friendly software. This Cercon software will ensure that your coping or framework will have both structural integrity and the key elements for a high end aesthetic finish incorporated into it.
