creos™ xenoprotect: the natural barrier

It is estimated that half of all dental implant cases require a regenerative procedure.1 In order to ensure the best possible outcome for the patient, a dental professional therefore needs regenerative materials that can be relied upon.

That's where creos xenoprotect, the natural barrier membrane, comes in. Designed for use in guided bone regeneration (GBR) and guided tissue regeneration (GTR) procedures, creos xenoprotect offers excellent handling properties and creates a favourable environment for healing.

Perfectly placed protection

As any movement can disrupt the formation of new bone, the ability to place a graft accurately and securely is essential for effective healing. For this very reason, the biodegradable creos xenoprotect collagen membrane offers excellent strength without compromising its outstanding handling properties. With a lesser increase in size when hydrated compared with competitive products,2 creos xenoprotect takes the guesswork out of trimming the membrane. It can be cut to match the treatment area when dry with less risk that it won't fit the defect site when applied. Easily unfolded and not sticky when moistened, creos xenoprotect can be repositioned without removing the graft material.

The ease with which the creos xenoprotect membrane is fixed into place also makes it a very predictable solution. Its high mechanical stability.2 and tear-resistant nature.2 mean it can easily be tacked or sutured to stay in the perfect position for facilitating new tissue growth. This is great for improving the treatment outcome and for reducing the number of membranes inadvertently torn during application, saving the clinician time and money. Wastage is further avoided thanks to the availability of three different membrane sizes, ranging from 30x40mm for larger treatment sites down to 15x20mm for small bone defects.

As creos xenoprotect is a resorbable membrane, no second surgery is needed, reducing the risk of complications and enhancing the aesthetic outcome. The membrane is instead designed to resorb safely in the patient's mouth over a prolonged degradation time.2 As a result of this slow resorption, the patient's regenerative therapy benefits from the membrane's strength and stability properties long after it has been placed.

A barrier to unwanted cells

Creos xenoprotect membrane acts as a strong barrier to unwanted cells while simultaneously paving the way for the vital in-growth of osteogenic cells and blood vessel penetration. By ensuring optimum conditions for tissue integration, the new bone and soft tissue is able to develop effectively for a more predictable outcome.

The key to the reliability of the creos xenoprotect membrane lies in its high mechanical strength. This strength is provided by interwoven, highly purified porcine collagen fibers and porcine elastin fibers, brought together to form a dense mesh that holds bone graft material securely in place. At the same time, the fibers prevent undesirable cells migrating from surrounding soft tissue and disrupting the healing process.

In addition to acting as an impenetrable barricade against unwanted cells, the vascularisation behaviour of creos xenoprotect is excellent. The membrane also exhibits exceptional strength thanks to its natural collagen structures - no cross-linking agent is used to reinforce the membrane. As it is not cross-linked, creos xenoprotect possesses outstanding tissue integration properties..2
