Dental industry stalwart Nigel Davis receives AM

A-dec Territory Manager, Nigel Davis of Adelaide, has been appointed a Member of The Order of Australia in the Queens Birthday 2019 Honours List for significant service to the manufacturing and supply of dental products in Australia and internationally.

Nigel Davis AM has worked extensively with the International Standards Organisation (ISO), which influences international standards in relation to all dental instruments, materials and equipment. He has also served as National President of the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA), is an ADIA life member and also an Honorary Member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA) (SA Branch). In addition, Nigel is one of A-dec Australia’s longest serving Territory Managers as well as a former dental equipment dealer, based in Adelaide. Over his extensive career, Nigel has worked closely with South Australia’s leading institutions and dentists. Notably, Nigel has had a great deal of input into the upgrade of facilities provided to public health patients at the state’s South Australian Dental Service (SADS); together with the Commonwealth-funded GP Plus Dental Clinics; and Adelaide Dental Hospital over the decades. Similarly, he has worked closely with SA teaching institutions: TAFE SA, The University of Adelaide and the Adelaide Dental School, which this year celebrates its centenary. Together these institutions offer some of the finest facilities and highest standard of dental care and training anywhere in the world. On receiving the honour, Nigel said he wanted to provide some perspective of the award by recognising the “bigger picture” importance of the many family, friends and colleagues without whom he could not have made his contribution to dentistry. “My parents always encouraged me to pay forward my own good fortune through community service. I have been in the fortunate position to work with many talented dental professionals over my career to support dental research, to ensure excellence in dental product design and to encourage the best quality of patient treatment, care and safety for all Australians. Thank you to everyone for your love and support. My journey continues.” Nigel has also received the congratulations of his colleagues at A-dec, dental industry members internationally and many Australian dentists as well as family and friends on his well-deserved AM.
