Dentevents automates event listings on Google

Dentevents has continued to grow as the No. 1 reference for finding information on upcoming dental education and events thanks to increased rankings on the majority of local and international search engines.

Not only is the main website, which is located at www.dentevents.com featuring prominently, each individual event is also now being catalogued on Google and other search engines.

"We have completed a lot of work this year on optimising all our websites to ensure they are search engine friendly," said Dentevents publisher Joseph Allbeury. "We have now developed a large body of knowledge on this process in-house and are reaping the rewards of this investment.

"One key outcome has been that Google is now cataloguing every event in the Dentevents database and when the event is over, it is subsequently removing the listing. This ensures the information listed on Dentevents is seen by as many people as possible which in turn provides tremendous value to event organisers who take the time to use the free submission process on the website.

"One of the key features of Dentevents has always been that it provides very detailed information about events and in order to achieve this level of detail, event organisers are encouraged to self-manage their information. This process takes time but the rewards are now even greater for doing so."

Mr Allbeury said that search engines do not readily accept information stored in database-driven webites and it has been through the development of a direct relationship with the search engine companies that has resulted in the information now being available.

"At the end of the day, Google and other search engines are only as good as the information they can deliver. The sheer amount of information they have to process means that much of this is done in an automated way and that automation often precludes information stored in databases.

"Because Dentevents contains a wealth of very desirable information free of charge, Google recognises that it's users will value the information and thus ensures that the automated processing interrogates the site fully. In turn, we also ensure that the information is as easy to interpret as possible. The result is a win-win situation for everyone."
