Discus Dental introduces its Protege LED ultrasonic inserts

Discus Dental has introduced Protégé, their new line of hygienist-designed ultrasonic inserts into the Australian and New Zealand dental markets.

The Protégé LED is designed for outstanding clinical performance and convenience and was developed with the end-user in mind. The Protégé LED's built-in light emitting diode (LED) aids in the illumination of the posterior section of the oral cavity. It allows improved workflow and ergonomics and provides additional visibility in a way that no other ultrasonic insert can. This ideal combination of comfort, style and functionality is what drove the development of the final design. Protégé inserts are designed for use in the majority of magnetostrictive ultrasonic units. In addition, the inserts are available in 25kHz and 30kHz operating frequencies as well as an assortment of tip configurations to meet the unique needs of each clinician.

The user-friendly aspect of the Protégé LED is due in large part to its hygienist-focused development.

"I believe that all progressive clinicians should seriously consider routine use of powered instrumentation for biofilm disruption and removal in addition to an efficient means for full-mouth debridement," explained Kristy Menage-Bernie, RDH, BS, one of dental hygiene's key opinion leaders. "Products like the Protégé LED allow clinicians to do their job well while maintaining a thoughtful ergonomic environment."
