Dr Gerald Niznick to lecture in January...

Dr Gerald Niznick, credited with the development of the Internal Connection implant back in 1986, will make a brief stop in Sydney on January 23 for an evening on The Changing Reality of Implant Dentistry.

Once described by Barron's Magazine as "a prosthodontist and entrepreneur who is considered by many as the godfather of American implant dentistry", Dr Niznick, founded the Paragon Dental Implant Company in 1982 which he later sold to Zimmer Dental. Over 25 years later, the Screw-Vent internal hex implant he invented is still the backbone of Zimmer's implant system. In 2006, he launched Implant Direct International which quickly claimed a 4% stake of the global market.

In 2010, Sybron Dental Solutions acquired a 75% interest in Implant Direct International, leaving Dr Niznick the president of a joint venture that also included Sybron's Attachments International and Sybron Implant Solutions business assets.
