The Association of Orthodontists Singapore (AOS) will once again welcome delegates from across the Asia-Pacific region to Singapore for the 3rd edition of the Association of Orthodontists (Singapore) Congress (AOSC). The biennial congress will be held from 6-8 February 2015 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
Redefining the Boundaries of Orthodontics
With the congress themed "Frontiers in Orthodontics - Redefining the Boundaries" the conference aims to help orthodontists push boundaries by looking at new trends. "The AOSC 2015 conference will focus on reviewing current trends in orthodontics and comparing traditions to evidence-based research to redefine boundaries," said Dr Geraldine Lee, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the Association of Orthodontists (Singapore) Congress 2015. "This is especially important with the rapid and continuous advancements in technologies and innovations. We invite all orthodontists to join us in this endeavour."
Keynote speakers Dr Peter Ngan, Dr Peter Sinclair and Dr Kau Chung How will speak on the subjects of "Early Orthodontic Treatment: Evidence-Based or Practice Management", Treatment Planning: Efficiencies and Effectiveness using Modern Diagnostic Technologies" and "Tomorrow's Challenges for the Science of Orthodontics".
Recognizing the importance of collaboration across dental specialisations, the AOSC conference program also includes lectures that take a multi-disciplinary approach to dentistry. Topics such as "Orthodontic Tooth Movements to Optimize Periodontal Heath - Interdisciplinary Implications" and "Facial Aesthetics in Orthognathic Surgery" will be dealt with during the conference.
Additional pre- and postcongress days designed to help orthodontists better understand the treatment of impacted teeth, discuss how to measure outcomes of orthodontic treatment and review various orthodontic mechanics are also included.
Leading a fit and active life
For the first time within the conference, AOSC 2015 will not only stimulate the mind but also body. A morning run on February 7 will be led by Dr Chng Chai Kiat, President of AOS. Runners will not only be improving their fitness, but will also see Singapore's newest attraction, the Gardens by the Bay.
The Exhibition
Visitors can also look forward to the accompanying trade fair, where exhibitors will showcase the latest products and innovations in the field of orthodontics. The organizers expect to have more than 25 exhibitors, with companies such as Invisalign, Ormco, SimpliClear, 3M Unitek and Medisys Innovation already signed up as sponsors. Returning exhibitor Anwar Mahmood of Med Kraft Orthodontics had the following to say about his experience at AOSC: "Happy with the overall outcome. Quality attendance of all visitors; highly professionally organized event".
