GINGISAGE: King of retraction pastes, Dr Patrick Lesage, has done it again!

GINGISAGE™ is a gingival retraction paste without aluminium developed by Dr Patrick Lesage that is set to quickly become the new gold standard for impression taking, whether digital or traditional. The new paste is also less soluble than other pastes, which means it can remain longer in the sulcus. The ideal amount of pressure from the paste means you will achieve retraction without pain or trauma.

Almost 20 years ago, Dr Lesage invented Expasyl gingival retraction paste as an alternative to cord and took the world by storm. A slew of copycat products have followed.

"All the retraction pastes to date have drawbacks," Dr Lesage said. "Some need a special dispenser, others are not viscous enough and are less effective. All are hydrophilic, dissolving in saliva or gingival fluids within one minute. All contain aluminum chloride. GINGISAGE addresses all of these issues."

GINGISAGE is delivered in single use capsules which will fit into a composite gun. One capsule is enough for up to 3 preps on one patient.

The haemostatic action of GINGISAGE is more effective as it works in 3 ways:

  • Compression caused by the paste;
  • Kaolin absorbs blood and crevicular fluid; and
  • 6% Ferric Chloride acts as an astringent.

As the amount of chloride in GINGISAGE is low, the traditionally unpleasant taste and other possible drawbacks associated with retractions pastes are reduced.

The benefits of GINGISAGE include:

  • Sucular opening and haemostasis are achieved simultaneously within 1 to 2 minutes;
  • A must for digital impression taking;
  • Free of aluminium;
  • Ergonomic and hygienic capsule for single patient use; and
  • Respects the integrity of the epithelium attachment.
