Henry Schein takes on Waterlase

Biolase Technology has signed an agreement with Henry Schein Halas in Australia and Henry Schein Shalfoon in New Zealand for exclusive distribution of its Waterlase range of hard and soft dental tissue lasers.

Henry Schein has been successfully distributing the EZlase soft tissue laser in Australia and New Zealand for nearly two years now and this step is a logical progression to build on these achievements. This move also reflects the closer global distribution relationship between Biolase and Henry Schein which was initiated in North America in 2006 and has now also been extended to a number of European countries.

"We are very pleased that Henry Schein who know our diode laser product so well in Australia and New Zealand have decided to take this important next step into hard-tissue laser dentistry down under," said Biolase CEO David Mulder. "The Australian and New Zealand markets are very important to us and having the power of the Henry Schein team behind all our products will be a huge benefit to us and our customers."

As a consequence, Biolase will wind-down its direct operations in Australia and New Zealand but will ensure there is a seamless transition to the Henry Schein Halas and Henry Schein Shalfoon operations so that customers are not in any way disadvantaged.
