Heraeus sponsors young scientists

The International Association for Dental Research (IADR), in cooperation with Heraeus Kulzer, has founded the IADR/Heraeus Travel Award. This award is to be granted to five young and committed junior scientists and is to include US$2,500. With it, the awardees can participate in the 88th General Session & Exhibition of the IADR in Barcelona, Spain, July 2010. Heraeus is a global supplier of dental and medical products headquartered in Hanau, Germany.

The IADR/Heraeus Travel Award is an award which is to be granted by the IADR for outstanding research activities and methods for developing innovative dental materials or new test methods.

The IADR has approximately 11,000 members around the world who actively carry out research in all fields of dentistry in order to improve oral health worldwide. The General Session serves the purpose of exchanging knowledge between individual scientists and research groups worldwide. At these meetings, thousands of research projects are presented each year.

For the IADR/Heraeus Travel Award, which is to be granted for the first time during the 2010 General Session, young researchers are at this time invited to submit their research projects in the field of dental materials, e.g. innovative test methods for researching dental materials as well as new ideas or approaches for advancing and improving dental materials and material technology. To apply, you must select the IADR/HeraeusTravel Award and fill out the eligibility requirements when submitting your abstract for the 88th General Session & Exhibition of the IADR in Barcelona, Spain, July 14-17, 2010. The abstract submission site can be found on the IADR Web site at: www.iadr.org

Since the IADR/Heraeus Travel Award is aimed at young junior scientists, one should have received a degree in dentistry, materials science or related disciplines within the last five years. In addition, the participants must be members of the IADR.

In all, five awards are to be granted to one participant from each of the IADR-designated regions: North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa/Middle East and Asia/Pacific. Applications for this travel grant must be received by the abstract deadline date of 5 February 2010.

Heraeus highly values close and long-term partnerships with science. This is why the company is sponsoring this award, in particular to be able to support young scientists with their research immediately.
