IDEM Singapore 2006 expands

The biennial International Dental Exhibition and Meeting, IDEM 2006, is again being staged in Singapore from April 7-9, 2006. This year, the event has partnered with FDI and the Singapore Dental Association to include a strong scientific programme with local and international speakers while the accompanying trade exhibition has also expanded.

Australia's own Prof. Laurie Walsh will lecture on Predictive Dentistry - A Solid Foundation of Treatment on April 6 immediately preceding the event.

On the opening day, Friday April 7, Prof. Dave A Felton will present a program on Excellence In Restorative Dentistry including The Art of All-Ceramic Restorations and Fixed Prosthesis; and Management of the Mutilated Dentition.

A Listerine Symposium from 7:00pm to 9:00pm will also take place with Prof. John Thomas presenting on Biofilm and Oral Diseases; A/P Grace Ong presenting Minimum Intervention - Clinical Management of Periodontal Diseases; and another Australian, Dr Hien Ngo, presenting Minimum Intervention - Clincial Management of Caries.

On Saturday April 8, Prof. J F Camilla Tulloch will also speak on New Developments in Orthodontics: The Timing of Treatment; and New Approaches to the Management of Class II Malocclusion from 8:30am to 9:30am. Then Prof. Pierre Machtou and Clin. A/P Patrick Tseng will present Perfecting the Art of Endodontics in the morning while Prof. David W Paquette will deliver on Keeping Patients Healthy via Controlling Periodontal Inflammation in the afternoon.

On Sunday April 9, Prof. Robert L Schneider will present all day on Dental Implants: A Recipe for Success covering aesthetic concerns with dental implants; present status of immediate placement implants; and steps to ensure success with dental implants.

Special workshops and seminars are also planned for dental assistants, while practical exercises round off the programme. Attendees at IDEM Singapore 2006 will be awarded up to 20 hours of internationally recognized CPD credits.

At the trade exhibition, German-based Koelnmesse, which is jointly organizing IDEM Singapore with its subsidiary in Singapore, expects around 250 companies from approx. 30 countries including Australia, to participate.

Singapore itself offers visitors affordable 5-star accommodation in an eclectic environment melding western and oriental traditions. Experience shopping Singapore style at the "pasar malam" (night market) along famous Bugis Street; visit Boat Quay for dinner by the Singapore River; sample Singapore's very own concoction, the 'Singapore Sling' at the world famous Raffles Hotel; or experience adventure on the world's first Night Safari where the mystery and drama of the jungle unfolds at night with stunning effect through 40 hectares featuring over 1,200 animals of more than 110 exotic species.

Take the scenic cable car to Sentosa and travel the monorail through the tree-tops to the island's attractions with striking views of the Singapore skyline; cruise on a Chinese Junk - an exact replica of a famous Imperial vessel of the Ming Dynasty; or take a romantic Sunset Dinner Cruise.

IDEM 2006 provides Australian and New Zealand dentists with the opportunity of a short, tax deductible break to a busy city in the heart of Asia with a range of activities for families, excellent international cuisine and world-class accommodation, all only a relatively short flight away.

Visitors can register online for the IDEM Singapore 2006 exhibition at www.idem-singapore.com. Anyone registering prior to 31 March 2006, will receive free admission to the exhibition and receive a free catalogue.
