IDEM Singapore comes of age as pivotal show

IDEM 2006 has further established itself as the pivotal show for the Asia Pacific region with record numbers of visitors and exhibitors meeting in Singapore in April to share in education and innovation.

"We have made a number of changes to IDEM this time based on feedback from exhibitors and other business partners and it has paid off with more visitors and more exhibitors," said Oliver P. Kuhrt, Executive Vice President of Koelnmesse. "Most importantly however, the quality of the visitors and the level of satisfaction from our exhibitors has increased significantly."

The International Dental Exhibition and Meeting, which ended on Sunday, 9 April 2006 after three days, presented the products of 322 exhibitors from 35 countries including Australia and attracted 5,682 visitors from 55 countries. 58 percent of attendees came from outside Singapore including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, India, Taiwan, South Korea and the Philippines.

Staged at Suntec Singapore Exhibition and Convention Centre, IDEM Singapore 2006 was organised by Koelnmesse and its subsidiary in Singapore in conjunction with the Singapore Dental Association (SDA).

Complementing the largest exhibition to date, the scientific congress presented a full program of education for the dentist and dental team delivered by leading international experts. For 2006, Koelnmesse and the SDA partnered with the FDI World Dental Federation to ensure a high quality, world-class scientific program with a variety of information presented in an innovative format. More than 1,000 delegates took part in the congress.

As an adjunct to the formal scientific program, a Dental Innovation Forum was set up on the floor of the exhibition hall where presenters offered insights into the latest product developments.

Many exhibitors chose IDEM to launch new products to the Asia Pacific region and the show accurately reflected the state of the art in dentistry in 2006. Many new technologies and treatment regimes were on offer together with the latest developments in material sciences. Dental lasers were a feature this year with several companies displaying their products as well as CAD/CAM systems, digital dentistry, hand held x-ray cameras and ozone treatment. Dental implants and bone regeneration products were also a major focus of the show.

A unique aspect of IDEM Singapore 2006 was its combination of a dental exhibition and meeting for professionals with free dental health screening and a consumer-focused oral health products fair for the public. Jointly sponsored by the Singapore Dental Health Foundation (SDHF), free dental screening and consultation attracted over 800 people. Several dentists involved with SDHF participated in diagnosing and counseling patients.

IDEM Singapore provided exhibitors the opportunity to participate in a well-organized trade show centrally located in one of the busiest transportation hubs in Asia. The fixed location, biennial event is a permanent fixture on many calendars and exhibitors welcome the stability and organization delivered in a comprehensive package for exhibitors and visitors alike.
