Mr Roy Lynch, one of the best known and liked members of the dental industry in Queensland, passed away on 24 November 2004, aged 78. Mr Lynch had worked for over 50 years supporting the dental community and only officially retired after 30 years at Halas in December 2003.
He passed away peacefully in hospital and was laid to rest near his home at Bulimba. The service at the local Uniting Church was attended by some 200 people from throughout the dental community as well as family and friends.
Mr Lynch's dental career started with a position at Milne Brown Brisbane around July of l953 following military service and employment in the transport and shipping industry. That year and event coincided with his marriage to Alma with whom he subsequently started a family. His focus on prosthetics and specially denture teeth eventually led him to join American Dental Distributors in l972 where he immediately concentrated on the VITA tooth department and VITA ceramics. He quickly became well known amongst the commercial dental laboratories and dental practice labs.
He worked closely with Martin and Dagmar Halas and was key to the smooth changing of the guard when the legally separate businesses of American Dental Distributors, Harcourt Neil Ltd, Dentists Supplies and Western Dental were combined to become the Halas Dental group in l990.
Roy is survived by Alma, his wife of 51 years and Gary and Janelle, Roy and Judith.
