Thirty-nine clinical CEREC trainers from 16 countries attended the 5th International CEREC Trainers Course and Update, held at the Sheraton on the Park in Sydney in September. The course was presented by the International Society of Computerised Dentistry (ISCD) with the support of Halas Dental and Sirona Dental Systems.
"One of the many reasons for the success of CEREC globally has been the high level of support and education that new CEREC users receive, both pre and post taking delivery of the system," said Dr Olaf Schenk, one of the participants from Cologne, Germany.
"Over two days, we familiarised ourselves with all aspects related to supporting new and experienced users. Of particular interest was the essentials of adhesive dentistry and preparation techniques which were addressed by Prof. Dennis Fasbinder from the University of Michigan, USA and Dr Bernd Reiss, President of the ISCD respectively."
In addition to presentation and teaching techniques, topics included correct case selection, 3D designs, finishing techniques and the scientific background supporting the 'CEREC' method of restorative dentistry.
"The continued global partnerships between Sirona, dealers and practitioners have ensured that new users not only get a good head start, but that they also continue to increase their knowledge and skills with CEREC as techniques and methods update."
