The Australian Dental Industry Association has graduated another class from its successful "Introduction to Dentistry" course that has proven extremely popular with staff at ADIA member companies who are new to the industry or who want to increase their overall knowledge.
"The Introduction to Dentistry course is a structured learning program that allows members of the dental industry to develop a comprehensive knowledge of clinical dentistry that they otherwise may have taken years to develop," said ADIA Executive Officer Duncan Campbell. "We've been running the program for many years now and we know it has contributed to raising the level of service our member companies can offer by increasing the knowledge and intuitiveness of their staff."
ADIA members are actively encouraged to train their staff and put them through the course to ensure the dental team benefits from dealing with knowledgeable suppliers.
The course is designed for self-learning and is an ideal part of a company's induction programme. It is also supplied with an interactive CDROM to aid learning. It is ideal for those who require a basic knowledge of the industry and has proved a valuable aid for newly appointed practice staff. The course is estimated to take 20 hours of study to successfully complete the examination.
Introduction to Dentistry is written by specialists, providing step-by-step training in the basics of dentistry and dental equipment. The modules focus on the following:
- Welcome to Dentistry;
- Oral & Dental Anatomy and Physiology and Dental Charting;
- Oral Health and Disease;
- Diagnosis and Radiography;
- Restorative Dentistry;
- Dental Technology;
- Laboratory Procedures;
- The Dental Environment and Dental Equipment;
- Infection Control in Dentistry; and
- Minor Oral Surgery, Anaesthesia and Section.
