New dentevents... website launched at IDS 2005

A completely new version of the popular internet-based Dentevents worldwide dental education calendar was launched at IDS 2005 in Cologne, Germany, April 12-16 2005 as part of the Australian Pavilion.

www.dentevents.com endeavours to list all major and the majority of minor dental conferences, courses, seminars, trade shows and more. The site lists events globally, however being Australian-based, it has a particular focus on Australia and New Zealand.

"Dentevents has been online since 1997 and has proven to be a popular resource for dental professionals looking for continuing education around the world," said Dentevents publisher Joseph Allbeury. "With the new version, we have given the website a fresh new look and made it far easier to search and more straightforward to submit events to the calendar.

"All the features of the site that people love, such as detailed, comprehensive information remain, however, it is now far easier to find it. As one of the oldest publishers of internet-based information for dental professionals in Australia and New Zealand, we have learnt a great deal about how dental professionals use websites and the new version of Dentevents reflects this."

Mr Allbeury said the number one criteria used to search in the past is the date of the event and as a result, this is now the principal option offered on the new Dentevents.

"The first thing you see when you visit the site is the next event that is on anywhere in the world. You can then refine the date range to the specific period you are interested in. You can of course still search by speaker, location, organiser and more, however we have changed the way the searches work to maximise the chance of finding what you want the first time.

"In addition, we have also made it far easier to submit your event to the calendar. The new Add Event function takes you through the submission process step-by-step and even remembers your details so that adding subsequent events is far quicker. We actively encourage event organisers to submit all their events to make the calendar as comprehensive as possible and there is no cost to do this. In addition, Dentevents staff members actively search for upcoming events to add to the database."

For dental professionals interested in being informed of all new events added to the site, there is now a "Subscribe" link that allows you to register your e-mail address. Every time a new event is added, an e-mail will be sent to you with the details. You can also "unsubscribe" at any time.

The website is largely funded from subscription revenue from Australasian Dental Practice, Auxiliary and eLABORATE magazines however, there are now also cost-effective advertising options available on the site to give event organisers the chance to stand out.

"We are continuing to add new features and functionality to the website and we welcome feedback about how the calendar can be improved. Our goal is for Dentevents to be both an essential resource for dental professionals seeking to attend continuing education programmes and an invaluable tool for event organisers seeking to raise awareness of their upcoming programs."
