NEW Osteon bone material

Implantium has received approval from the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for its range of Osteon bone grafting materials in time for its launch at the 32nd Australian Dental Congress.

Osteon is a synthetic osseoconductive, osseointegrative and bio-compatible bone graft substitute composed of hydroxyapatite (HA) 70% and beta-tricalcium phosphate (ß-TCP) 30% which are close to the major mineral components of human bone and have interconnected porous structure (scaffolding) which is similar to that of human cancellous bone.

The interconnected porous structures are made of HA which is both osseoconductive and bio-compatible and coated by ß-TCP which will support the attachment of new bone cells to the porous structure and stimulate the bone cells to grow.

The size of the porosity of Osteon is 300-500µm and new bone cells will attached at the structure and grow. The size and structure of the porosity will be similar to that of human bone (190-300 µm).

The applications of Osteon are ridge augmentation, extraction site, perio defects, cystic cavities and Sinus lifts.

The available sizes of particle are 0.5-1.0mm and 1.0-2.0mm and the volume of package is 0.25, 0.5 and 1.00cc in vial.
