New owner vows to keep up the momentum

Mergers and Acquisitions Appointments and Promotions

Leading Australian practice management consultancy, Momentum Management, has been purchased by one of its program graduates, Melbourne dentist Dr Toni Surace.

Dr Surace first became involved with Momentum 5 years ago and has progressed from a client, to a mentor, to coach and presenter and is now the Managing Director.

"I find my work at Momentum very rewarding and something that comes naturally to me," Dr Surace said. "I believe I make a positive difference to the lives of the dentists we work with through the implementation of proven systems in their practices. It's thrilling to see positive change and how it improves their quality of life."

As the principal dentist at Melbourne practice Smile Style, Dr Surace went through the Momentum Programme and found that by implementing certain systems, she could run her practice on autopilot and leverage her time to be selective with the type dentistry she personally undertook. It was a watershed moment and one that not only got her hooked on the power of practice management, but also summoned a desire to help colleagues learn how to run their practices rather than the practice running you.

The mother of three now runs Momentum plus her own busy dental practice as well as working as a mentor, coach and international presenter. All this is possible thanks to truly mastering the art of managing her practice remotely.

Momentum's founder, Randi Goda, had been considering selling Momentum for some time. After 12 years of dedication, she wanted a break to focus on family commitments. However, Ms Goda wasn't prepared to sell to just anyone and had been waiting until a buyer who was as passionate about Momentum as she was came along.

"I was shocked when I learnt Randi was considering selling," Dr Surace said. "As a former client, I know the effort she and the Momentum team put into ensuring my experience as a dentist and practice owner was the best it could possibly be. On approaching her to potentially take over the reins, I was honoured she selected me and I will continue to ensure that Momentum keeps its 'big heart'."

In her farewell letter to Momentum clients, Ms Goda explained the reasons for selecting Dr Surace as her replacement: "Toni is passionate, eager and fiery and is willing to take risks and give things a go. She has a love of the business and an understanding of the privilege and honour involved in doing the work we do. She will love and care for all of you, the community and Momentum as much, if not more than I have. And, this last reason is the single most important one for me".

Dr Surace has worked alongside Ms Goda for the past six months, co-managing from behind the scenes to ensure a seamless transition and is now excited about the company's future. She promises business as usual while adding a fresh modern approach with Short Courses, Webinars, Workshops, Social Media, In-Practice Training, Coaching and Mentoring to ensure she's able to help as many dentists as possible.

Ms Goda departed on August 18 to ensure everything was in place for Momentum's future success, and for now, is looking forward to being a fulltime mum, spending time with her extended family and travelling.
