Musculoskeletal disorders continue to impact on dental practitioners at an alarming rate, manifested by the high incidence of chronic pain and discomfort and in the worse examples, time off work and even shortened dental careers.
Dr Anikó Ball - a dentist with personal experience in the dangers posed by poor posture - is now a recognised expert in helping practitioners reduce the risk of occupational chronic pain thanks to her extensive training in the inner ergonomics of optimal posture and movement coordination.
To this end, Dr Ball is conducting a series of "Optimum Posture Workshops" in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney to change postural habits that contribute to pain and injury in the dental setting.
The Level 1 Foundation Program and the Level 2 Advanced Workshop follow on from earlier successful workshops at the A-dec Sydney showroom last year, seminars and CPD courses with the Australian Dental Associations in Victoria and New South Wales, various presentations and "Lunch & Learn" sessions at the Australian Dental Congress and one-on-one sessions at the ADX18 dental exhibition on the A-dec stand.
The 2018 Optimum Dental Posture courses are practical and experiential. Participants learn and practice optimal work postures using real equipment in realistic dental settings. A-dec showrooms provide an ideal training environment.
These workshops, open to dental teams including general dentists, specialists, hygienists, oral health therapists and dental assistants, will help overcome occupational chronic pain and improve overall well-being in the workplace for a more productive future.
