PayPal now integrated into Dentevents registration engine

Websites Events Marketing

If you're organising a dental event or educational program, you can now accept registrations through and payment through your PayPal account in one seamless process, thanks to integration of the popular payment platform.

"We've integrated PayPal payments for events into the registration engine so that people registering for an event can pay the organiser of the event directly," said Joseph Allbeury, publisher of as well as Australasian Dental Practice, Auxiliary and eLABORATE magazines.

"Up to now, we have offered integration with other payment gateways, like eway, so that the event organiser and event registrant have a direct financial relationship without Dentevents being in the middle.

"However, not every event organiser has an online merchant account that we can connect to and these can be laborious to establish. It tends to be a simpler process to setup a PayPal account, hence why we have integrated this platform.

"This means that if you're organising an event, you can now setup your event on including every option that registrants can choose from and then be paid directly at time of registration through your PayPal account.

"We then charge you a ticketing fee, which is typically $4-5 per registrant."

Mr Allbeury said that the majority of the events accepting registrations through are lectures with only one registration price, however, the registration engine is designed to handle anything a dental event requires.

"Currently, we're accepting registrations for a congress in mid-2017," Mr Allbeury cited as an example. "Apart from the plenary sessions, the congress has four optional concurrent workshops, each with only 20 places available. So the site will accept registrations for the main program and then allow selection of an optional workshop, provided the available places in each have not sold out.

"In addition, there is a congress dinner, so the registrant must opt-in to attend, even though it is free and when they do, they can then optionally pay an additional fee to bring a partner.

"The partners name and details are recorded, as well as dietary choices for the registrant and their partner/guest(s)."

Mr Allbeury said that the registration engine is designed to take care of administering all the choices and options available including different pricing for different practitioner types who are all registering at once and discounts for early bird registration or membership of an association. Promo codes can also be setup to market special offers to different groups.

"Once all the choices have been made and the options selected by the registrant, the costs are displayed and payment requested. If you have selected to use PayPal, then the registrant can either pay with a debit or credit card, or using their own PayPal account.

"If the transaction is successful, then the event organiser receives the payment immediately into their PayPal account."

Mr Allbeury said that apart from allowing people to register for events, a full suite of tools is available to help organisers manage their event, including keeping track of who has registered and the options selected in the case of complex events, as well as the payments received.

In addition, also manages the allocation of CPD hours for the event, with organisers needing to "Verify" full attendance, partial attendance or failure to attend for each registrant once the event is over.

" makes administering an event far simpler," Mr Allbeury said. "Within minutes, you can post an event to the calendar and begin accepting registrations. It's literally that simple.

"Then, as people register for your event, you can log in at any time and see all the details about the registration and payment. You can also print reports, name badges, receipts, CPD certificates and more. All the tools you need are provided in one place and if there is anything you specifically need, then we can add it to the system in a future update."
