Portable dental x-ray units that run standalone on battery power have a number of obvious applications in dentistry where permanent facilities and power are lacking. In private practice too, there are ways to take advantage of these systems.
A number of these units in various forms have been a feature at overseas dental shows for the last several months and the genre has now reached Australia with the Port-X II Portable Dental X-ray System courtesy of Wisbey Dental.
"There are a range of applications for portable x-ray units," said Greg Wisbey, Managing Director of Wisbey Dental. "We have a long history in providing portable dental equipment so the Port-X II is a logical addition to our range. More than that however, we are seeing customers in private practice finding a range of new uses for the system. Its portability and versatility make it a welcome addition to the contemporary dental practice.
"There are a range of portable x-ray systems coming onto the market internationally but many will not comply with the rigid standards and regulations the Australian Government imposes. The Port-X II is both TGA listed and Compliance Certified by the EPA."
The Port-X II weighs only 2.35kgs and features a camera-type body, rechargeable battery, LCD screen, extension cone, mobile stand and heavy duty carry case.
Its high performance tube and HFG delivers sharp and clear images and it features in-built scatter radiation protection. The unit is compatible with film or any sensor/software system and can produce 200 exposures on full battery charge.
