Flossing has become the new focus of consumer oral health care for Johnson & Johnson following the release of its internationally successful Reach® Access™ Daily Flosser in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year.
According to a new Reach consumer poll, over 37 per cent of Australians revealed they floss less often than once a week, while a further 21 per cent revealed they have never flossed.
The poll also examined some of the difficulties associated with regular flossing. 21 per cent of respondents listed 'difficult to manoeuver' and 'awkward' as the biggest barriers to flossing daily, followed by 'not enough time' and 'don't see the point - brushing alone does the job'. Over 50 per cent of respondents who floss less than once daily agreed that a product which made flossing 'quicker and easier' would make them floss more often.
Floss is arguably the most important weapon against plaque, complementing a toothbrush clean by removing plaque and bacteria that cannot be reached with brushing alone. The primary function of dental floss is to remove the invisible film of bacteria and plaque that constantly forms between teeth. With daily flossing, plaque never gets the chance to harden into tartar. The unique design of the Reach Access Daily Flosser alleviates many of the traditional barriers that are perceived to exist with flossing and make it as easy as brushing. The toothbrush-style handle has an angled neck that makes it easy to reach back teeth and features a familiar, easy to hold, reversible grip that helps manoeuver the floss right where it is needed.
The snap-on disposable heads are filled with shred and break resistant floss and come in convenient packs that make changing heads easy. The Reach Access Daily Flosser fits neatly into any toothbrush holder, helping to make flossing part of a daily routine and is available in three fashionable colours: aqua, raspberry and lime.
Reach Access Daily Flosser is available nationwide at leading supermarkets and pharmacies.
