Record numbers attend Osseointegration meeting

The increasing interest in implant dentistry was nowhere more evident than at the recent Australasian Osseointegration Society (AOS) meeting in Canberra in October.

Over 500 delegates from across the dental community descended on the nation's capital for the event and were treated to a veritable smorgasbord of talented local and international practitioners and technicians imparting the latest knowledge on dentistry's hottest topic.

Platinum sponsors Nobel Biocare, Innova, Astra Tech, 3i, Straumann and Halas also presented sessions on the Friday afternoon on a diverse range of topics. Nobel Biocare's session included two live surgery demonstrations "beamed in" from the ADA's CPD in Sydney.

Saturday was devoted to the burgeoning area of implant usage as anchorage and its role in orthodontics.

Complimenting the event was a large trade display with Pearl Group and Imtec participating as Gold Sponors.

The conference dinner was held on Friday night at Parliament House with entertainment from Peter Fitzsimons.
