Sascha Hein inducted into Oral Design

German Master Technician and one of eLABORATE's favourite authors, Sascha Hein, was recently inducted into the Oral Design Group which was founded almost 25 years ago by the legendary ceramist Willi Geller.

Perth-based Mr Hein, a well-known user of the Creation ceramic system devised by Mr Geller, was asked to demonstrate for Creation at IDS 2007 in Cologne, Germany in late March, alongside some of the finest Oral Design group members from Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

Demonstrating his professional expertise alongside some of the world's best dental technicians, he says, was a great challenge for him, but most importantly, a very fulfilling experience. A little nervous to begin with, he was in good company, amongst some of his own "all time heroes" that he'd admired since he was a student. His demonstrations attracted a considerable crowd of onlookers from all over the world carefully examining his technique.

The following night at the Wasserturm Hotel in Cologne, Sascha was honoured by Willi Geller himself and inducted into the Oral Design Group in the presence of many Oral Design members and special guests, including Australia's own Ray Sharkey (Oral Design Noosa) and eLABORATE's technical editor, Terry Whitty.

"Becoming a member of the international Oral Design Group is considered to be not only recognition of technical expertise but also of good character," Mr Geller said during the meeting. At barely 31 years of age, Mr Hein is the youngest dental technician ever to join the group!

He is also the fifth dental technician in Australia to be inducted into Oral Design and joins Peter Vyronis, Ray Sharkey, Wallis Franklin and Brian Walters.
