Siltex launches new Class B autoclave at FDI

Following research and development over the past 18 months, Siltex has previewed a brand new Class B autoclave at FDI Sydney 2003.

The company went back to the drawing board to design the new model to give Siltex an edge over its competitors with many features unavailable on other models.

"We're trying to keep ahead of the pack," said Mr Danny Jonas, managing director of Siltex Australia. "We researched what our dentist customers, dealers and technicians wanted and needed, plus drew on the decades of experience we have in autoclave design and manufacture to deliver a product that will give us a leadership position in the market."

Among the many features the Siltex Class B boasts are a huge 22 litre stainless steel chamber, compliance with the European Class B draft standard, patented motor activated robotic door closing, an internal printer, internal data cartridge that can be removed and plugged into a PC to download cycle information, a condensation tank, dirty water reservoir, self diagnosis, a built-in testing cycle for air leakage (Bowie Dick) and a patented steam generation system.

"Plus, it's quick," he added, with an average sterilize and dry cycle of just 25 minutes.

Mr Jonas said that a key point they derived from their research was that dentists wanted to support an Australian made and owned product.

Siltex has manufactured autoclaves since 1967 and has produced some 15,000 units in that time. Located in Melbourne, the Australian owned enterprise employs 25 staff, is ISO 9001 accredited and its products are listed with the TGA.

The Siltex Class B is expexted to retail for between $12-$13,000. A full report on the Siltex Class B will be included in the next edition to coincide with the official release of the unit.
