Sirona celebrates Oktoberfest in style

Sirona Dental Systems has celebrated its German roots in style, hosting its annual Oktoberfest event at the showrooms of BMW in the Sydney suburb of Canterbury. The dental community at large was invited to attend and enjoy traditional German beverages and cuisine amongst the best Germany has to offer in terms of both automobiles and dental equipment.

A further highlight of the afternoon event was the chance to hear several presentations from cone beam imaging expert Professor Don Tyndall from the Department of Diagnostic Sciences and General Dentistry at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry; as well as several local speakers presenting on a range of topics.

"In years gone by, we've staged Oktoberfest in our own showrooms but this year, we decided to combine it with BMW as they are another German company that share our values for innovation and technology," said Sirona Dental Systems Managing Director, Tim Carse. "Apart from that, we have repeated our highly successful formula for the day with several great speakers, notably Professor Don Tyndall, giving a variety of presentations, plus a chance to look at our latest products and sample a range of German fare."

Professor Tyndall's presentations in-cluded Digital Imaging - Matching Modality to Application; Interpreting X-Rays: bitewing / intra-oral / cone beam or film; and 3D Imaging - The full picture.

Other presentations included: Feng Shui for the dental surgery with Elizabeth Wiggins from Feng Shui Living; Sterilisation, quality assurance and instrument tracking with Geoff Brown from Austmel; Ergonomics - Caring for your comfort with Chiropractor Stephanos Kassabalis; Getting the stimulus out of your practice management system with Harry Snow from Centaur Software; Effective finance with Brendan Casey from Medfin; Veterinary Dentistry with Dr Christine Hawke; Smart finance for your practice with Stafford Hamilton from Investec Experien; Streamlining your practice through technology with Chris Ajaka from Cablenet; nab Health Financial Planning update on the latest wealth creation and protection strategies with Dean Moon from Medfin; So your thinking of updating your surgery - The importance of project management with Darryl Paine from Elite Project Group; and CEREC - "My best business decision to date!" with Dr Andrew Freelander.

In addition, Canterbury BMW's Erik Bellendir presented on BMW Efficient Dynamics and provided three lucky door prizes of a two day drive in a BMW and a night's accommodation.
