SIRONiTi streamlines Endo: 3000+ sold

Six months after launching its new SIRONiTi endodontic handpiece, Sirona has reported selling over 3,000 units worldwide.

"This enormous demand indicates that dentists are looking for equipment that makes their job easier and streamlines their practice workflow," said Anja Weidemann, product manager at Sirona. "When compared with electronic benchtop units, SIRONiTi achieves considerable time savings when preparing root canals." According to the company, at the heart of this innovative contra-angle handpiece is a gold-plated magnetic coupling with a unique "retrorotation" function. If the torque limit is exceeded, SIRONiTi automatically prevents the file from becoming jammed in the root canal. The power is cut off gently without any intervention by the user. A choice of five torque settings can be selected directly by turning a preselector ring which allows SIRONiTi to be used in conjunction with a wide range of nickel-titanium file systems.
