SOE makes conversion easy

Software of Excellence, developers of both Oasis and Exact, have established dedicated teams of people to assist practices to changeover from other systems to one of their products.

"Switching software systems need not be a huge upheaval if the company you're switching to has real expertise and experience in transferring data from one system to another," said Mike Engle, General Manager Asia Pacific for Software of Excellence International.

"Many practices use software packages that are either out-dated or that they simply do not like because they believe it is too much trouble to change.

"Over the last 18 months, sales of both Oasis and EXACT practice management systems in Australia and New Zealand have increased significantly with many of these new sales coming from practices who've been using competitors' systems that were either poorly supported or offer no upgrade path."

According to Mr Engle, in response to this significant growth in sales, Software of Excellence has employed two full time conversion specialists experienced in the interchange of information between competitor systems. "They don't just convert names and addresses, they are also increasingly able to convert clinical history, notes, digital radiographs and appointments as well as financial data. Our conversion specialists are constantly extending the range of converted data."

"To ensure a smooth conversion from your old data, a trial conversion is done to verify that all the data has been correctly interpreted. When this is signed off by the practice, we wait until just prior to the install date and run the final conversion. Last year, we converted data from over 8 different competitive systems for more than 40 practices."
