Innovative handpiece service and repair business, The Drill Guys, has been bought by new owner-operators, Jack and Leanne Nunnink. Former owners Jan and Shirley Gray, who created the unique concept of mobile handpiece repair a decade ago, have retired from the dental industry.
"The Drill Guys is a fantastic concept and we were immediately attracted to the opportunity to take it to the next level of service and sales," Mr Nunnink said. "Everything will remain the same as far as contact details, location of the workshop and retention of the highly trained technical team are concerned, but we're committed to increasing our level of customer service, expanding the mobile workshop service Australia-wide and offering a wider range of quality handpieces and micromotors for sale at
affordable prices.
"I'm looking forward to personally meeting our current clients as well as providing this unique service opportunity to many other surgeries," he said. "We also want to hear how we can deliver a better service and we encourage all surgeries to contact us and let us know their experiences in the past so that we can ensure we provide the best service possible in future."
Unique onsite mobile handpiece repair service
Mr Nunnink said that The Drill Guys onsite mobile workshop service was the unique and innovative aspect of the business he was immediately attracted to and can see this growing to become the standard of care for handpiece service and
repair nationally.
"The Drill Guys has the only mobile repair service that comes to your surgery and completes on-site repairs and/or maintenance on 90% of high- and many low speed handpieces," he said. "We listened to our national customer base and responded with this fast and efficient service. All you need to do is call and we will come to your surgery, saving you valuable downtime and money. The average high speed repair will be quoted and work
completed onsite within 40 minutes."
The Drill Guys Mobile Workshops currently service from Cairns to the Sunshine Coast; Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Toowoomba; Northern NSW; Central Coast NSW; Sydney Metro; Southern NSW; Melbourne Metro; Adelaide; and Tasmania.
For other areas of Australia, The Drill Guys offer free postage to and from the repair centre with tracking on all sent parcels provided by Australia Post E-Parcel. Most handpieces received for repair at the main repair centre are turned around in 24 hours.
Free Hour of Power education session
Mr Nunnink said that The Drill Guys are now also offering all members of its Handpiece Maintenance Club within its mobile service area a free "Hour of Power" onsite maintenance education program.
"During the Hour of Power, our service technicians take the time to show your staff what the inside of a handpiece looks like and explain briefly how it works. This has been shown to immediately improve the way your handpieces are treated within
the clinic.
"Our technician will also demonstrate correct maintenance procedures and explain what some of the main handpiece faults can be and how to catch the repairs before they turn into major, more expensive, faults."
Mr Nunnink said that with a few tips from their skilled technicians during the Hour of Power, practice staff can diagnose and correct some common handpiece faults in the 'steri' area, thus avoiding costly repairs in the future.
"The Drill Guys are the most innovative and forward thinking handpiece repair centre in Australia and the only company able to offer mobile repairs and maintenance," Mr Nunnink said. "We hope that all practices in Australia consider our services for their ongoing handpiece maintenance or repairs."
