In the May/June edition of Australasian Dental Practice, an article on marketing discussed the value of using testimonials from patients to promote dental practices.
This article was of a general nature and prior to undertaking any marketing, dental practices are advised to consult any restrictions that exist in their specific state regarding the activities they propose. It has been correctly pointed out to us that under statutory provisions in the Dental Practice Act for Victoria, it is an offence for advertising to refer, use or quote from testimonials or purported testimonials. Severe financial and other penalties can result from breaches of the Act.
