World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry

The World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry (WCMID) is staging its 6th Annual Congress in San Diego, California from 17-20 August, 2005. Formed in 1999 by a global representation of dental practitioners, academics and dental researchers, the organisation is dedicated to the education of dental professionals and the public on the benefits and practice of microdentistry.

The attendees at the inaugural conference in 2000 collectively defined Minimally Invasive Dentistry (Microdentistry) as the evidence-based discipline of dealing with oral hard and soft tissue-saving procedures with the goal of improving quality of life through lifelong optimal oral health.

A bigger picture has emerged today by exploring the bacterial connection of dental caries, how it relates to our overall health, and developing logic-based treatments to prevent and treat dental disease: namely, Microdentistry.

The Congress is also a Mecca for learning how new technologies such as lasers compliment and facilitate the practice of Minimally Invasive Dentistry.

So make an escape this winter to the Californian summer to learn more about how microdentistry enables early detection to eliminate decay at an early stage using a minimally invasive therapy that maintains the integrity of the tooth. Equally important is that it provides therapies to arrest and even possibly reverse the carious process.
