More than 600 dentists have turned out across Australia to information nights on the new Zoom! chairside whitening system released by Discus Dental in March.
"The response has been phenomenal," said Barbara Byrne, business development manager for local agent's Henry Schein Regional.
"Over a hundred dentists across the country have already purchased the system and demand is being driven by the significant patient interest generated from the popular Channel Nine reality TV program, Extreme Makeover."
Zoom! uses an ultraviolet light source to achieve rapid chairside tooth whitening in conjunction with a hydrogen peroxide-based gel. Zoom! is used in each episode of Extreme Makeover, generally administered by Discus Dental founder and Zoom! inventor, Dr Bill Dorfmann.
The Zoom! lamp retails for just under $3000 and the single use patient kits package the gel, liquid dam for masking the soft tissue and other accessories to complete the system.
Discus and Henry Schein Regional are supporting the system with full training and will continue to conduct workshops in capital cities around Australia and New Zealand each month.
In addition, marketing assistance will be provided to help dentists establish the device as an integral part of their practices with an internet find service available at zoom.dentist.com.au plus appointment cards, posters, display cubes, Q&A brochures for patients, videos, shade guides and advertising templates.
